Acediasulfone Products | Cleanchem - Acediasulfone is a sulfone-class antimicrobial agent historically used in the treatment of leprosy (Hansen's disease). It functions by inhibiting bacterial synthesis of dihydrofolic acid, thereby suppressing the growth of Mycobacterium leprae. The compound is chemically related to dapsone and was developed to enhance therapeutic efficacy while reducing toxicity. Though largely replaced by newer agents, it played a significant role in early multidrug therapy regimens for leprosy.
